“Gravity Ace” is a group for discussing the topic:

Ida P. Rolf, PhD stood for the idea of learning to live in cooperative alignment with the force of Gravity. Such balance in the makeup of the human body is a human evolutionary potential. Trajectory?

Dr. Rolf observed that we are living below our natural innate potential for the kind of upright balance in the makeup of our bodies which we recognize as 1. correct in terms of human anatomical design ... and 2. basic laws of Physics.

“Some individuals may perceive their losing fight with gravity as a sharp pain in their back, others as the unflattering contour of their body, others as constant fatigue, yet others as an unrelentingly threatening environment. Those over forty may call it old age. And yet all these signals may be pointing to a single problem so prominent in their own structure, as well as others, that it has been ignored: they are off balance, they are at war with gravity.”

About her peerless and definitive approach to human structural balance [Rolf Structural Integration], she said:

“This is the gospel of Rolfing: When the body gets working appropriately, the force of Gravity can flow through. Then, spontaneously, the body heals itself.”

Gravity is the tool. Gravity is the therapist.”

“Consign your body to Gravity.”

What is Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method / Structural Integration?

What is Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method

 /
Structural Integration?
As I understand it, Dr. Rolf’s basic premise is this:

Just like it is for any physical structure on Earth, the same also applies to the Human body structure. In this regard Gravity is determinative.

In terms of how this applies to Human beings, consider basic Science.

Anatomically the Human body is designed structurally as something stacked up vertically, the segments level front to back, and with symmetry side to side. Dr. Rolf would say: "... something organized around a vertical line".

From Physics we understand that the Human body arrangement — vis-a-vis the demands of Gravity — calls for the same uprightness, evens and symmetricals  which are also understood Anatomically.

"Gravity Ace" Official Towel

That New Day has dawned! Your "Gravity Ace" went all gone in. Wins the pot! Booyah!

Read on ...

Your “Gravity Ace” is always all about “always be closing”. Never misses an opportunity to stick in the point that Gravity is a good idea.

It being so ineluctably constant and ever present Gravity fits just about anywhere. [Name one where it don’t.]

But, I digress.

This here is the amazing story of how on a fine 4th of July sunny warm day your “Gravity Ace” goes to the beach sporting his just off the press “Gravity Ace” beach towel. [Get your own, win friends and influence people! While supplies last.]

So here our boy is at the beach, with said towel. Coming back from a splash in the Jersey Shore Ocean he sees a crowd gathered round said beach towel. What gives? Well, it turns out that the towel attracted more than a little attention. Everbody wants to know what's with the "Gravity Ace" thing? Literally, ga-ga over "GA". Whereupon our boy doesn't skip a beat and informs his audience about the friggin' simple fact that the Force of Gravity can be enlisted as a vast and profound sustainable resource. You know like in his field Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method — Structural Integration.

What's this? Wow! His cherished hope has come to fruition! The scales have dropped from the eyes of the world! Gravity! It's good for you!

The crowd erupts with in joyous EUREKA! moment. Of course. Makes sense. Obvious. How'd we miss that for so long? Thank you! Thank you, our very own "Gravity Ace"!

Whereupon the gathered multitude picks him up and carries him off on their shoulders. Marches along, and it just so happens to join the local 4th of July parade. "Gravity Ace" ... home town hero. Keys to the City presentation on a date TBD.

Subsequently the Board of Education invites our "Gravity Ace" to be a valued advisor to it's stewardship of teaching our youth. Not just in the 3 R's, but in how to proceed through life in a balanced way. Grounded in science, you betcha!

And, mirabile dictu!, the Surgeon General of the United States of America will be putting it into the code an inclusionary provision to add into the definition of health and wellness the idea that balance in respect to the demands of Gravity is GOOD FOR YOU!

Booyah! Thank you "Gravity Ace". [And, you are most welcome. Just another day in the life.]

 in the Human Body

A little background ...

I have a career in the field of Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method /
Structural Integration. Its main goal is the balance of the body with the Gravitational Field of the Earth.

Adaptation to the energy field of the Earth is an evolutionary potential for Humans at this point in history. It doesn't take much to make the point by reading the news that the Human experiment is a mixed bag.

Zeitgeist stuff aside, note Energy Field. There's the Human energy field [individually, and collectively]. There's the energy field of the Earth. That would be Gravity. And, of the Universe; come to think of it.

Dr. Ida P. Rolf's idea was to further human evolution by directing [righting?] it's course following one single solitary as-plain-as-the-nose-on-your-face, common sense anatomical perspective; justified scientifically, in Physics. In the simplest of terms: Plumb and Square. That is the norm for structures on Earth. For the Human body too. Put another way, vertically upright, even [symmetrical], and level [horizontal]. Not in some robot assembled way, but as a dynamic reference for living. It's there already. Gravity is the message. We, as Humans, can tune in. Consciously. Proactively. Sustainably.

The genius of Dr. Ida Rolf is in originating an approach to fostering a transformation in the arrangement of the body along the lines of Gravity. This is not just good theory, folks. It's a way to go. It works. You may have heard of it; some are familiar with the nickname "Rolfing".

That's a little background. Now for the electrifying stuff. Let's talk the Body Electric.

David D. Wronski seen here in Official Goin' to Work Mode

"Ohm Fractal Sine Wave Morphic Resonance in the Human Body."

Ida Rolf spoke of our work as organizing the body as if it were an electric wire. [Do you see where I'm going with this?]

She planted her flag in her usual straightforward, unambiguous way: "This is the gospel of Rolfing: When the body gets working appropriately, the force of Gravity can flow through. Then, spontaneously, the body heals itself."

Take a moment. Tune in to the life current inside your skin. Sorry, no electronic devices allowed for this exercise. No distractions, please. When you stop and look inside, you'll notice ... YOU'RE ALIVE, BRUH! And, it's electric!

In other words, there's a flow. So, Pilgrim, let me ask you this: How's your flow? Really. I know it's a cute way to put it, but when you settle quiet and look for it, it's there. Maybe too there-there, maybe. Lot going on in that we don't pay much attention. But, ignorance is not an excuse. It's good to feel. To feel good. And, let's be clear; when I say feel good, I mean that you can feel what's there to be felt. Real good. [Don't mean you have to like it though.]

Let's pause. If you've read this far you may be wondering where's this going? I am too, BTW. But, this is "Wronski's Wramblings". I'll get you there. If you want to "Cut to the Chase" or "Jump the Shark", let me give you a little taste of my smack: Those imbalances you carry around with you in the makeup of your body ... those self-identified and cherished thought/feeling "notes" seemingly written in stone on the sheet music of your life ... they are nothing more than the force of Gravity flowing through points of resistance in the structural fabric of your body ... and, what's more, they make a sound that resonates throughout the system bodywide ... and, what's more-more, that "electronic" song you sing is heard around the world; across the universe. Further complicated by the mistaken assumption that that is who you are. [Guess what? It's not!] Yet, here you are, just you doin' you. Until you recognize this error, you're just a one note Johnny, a one trick pony. A fake deck all with the same card.

So that's the situation. If you see it. Until you do, it's "Hey, that's just the way I am." Key point: there's a choice. What is that? Get things straight. Take out the resistance. Ohm my God! It's really that simple? Yes, it is.

There's nothing to fear.

I once met the funny man — as if — Garrison Keillor on the street in Manhattan. I pressed my spiel about Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method / Structural Integration on him. He said he knew people in California who where so laid back as a result of "getting Rolfed", he was worried that if he got into it he wouldn't be funny — as if]. I neglected to suggest that if he did, he'd actually be funnier. Moral of the story: We take the random set of imbalances we've acquired in our life history and make a living off them. I'd say that's a beggars bargain. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO LIVE!?

Getting the wiring straight don't mean you just play a single monotonous note. No frickin' way, Bruh! It means that you will have a choice on how you want to calibrate the amplifier. Capisce? Infinitudanally.

So now let's get into the subtle stuff. Those fractals, and sine waves.

It's like a pebble in a pond. You know how you toss in a pebble and the water resonates with ever increasing circles. Each with its amplitude and separation is a mirror image reflection of the shape and size of that what you tossed into it. Yes?

Same with how the flowing force of Gravity comes up agin'st a "blockage" [read closed/tight/resistant] and, right there Johnny on the spot, there's a fractal created. Each one individual, as like snowflakes. And, like fractals will do, radiating outward in that individually unique shape energetically with the corresponding amplitude and duration. Simply put, our imbalances report as intensities of feeling on the range of "I can live with that" to "stop the world I want to get off". And, like when you are emotional, others pick up on it too.

Another way to express about this flow of Gravity is to call it the Life Force. If you want to get metaphysical, you can call it "Spirit". And we all know what that Spirit is. It's Love. And, as the Beatles said it, "All you need is Love".

"Our Man In Gravity"

 "Our Man In Gravity"

What's going on here? Not what you may think. But, what is anything what anyone thinks, anyway. No, it's not a hair styling. It involves the hair though. But, not only.

Here's the skinny ...

It's a new twist — please enjoy the unfoldment of that pun — on the classic approach to Human healthy balance. That would be your Dr. Ida P. Rolf Structural Integration. You know, balancing the arrangement of the body with the Gravitational Field of the Earth. That one.

There are a few important aspects of understanding how in the heck you can even transform the arrangement of the body from one of random disorder to one of balanced order.

First, what kind of order are we after in the first place? The human body, like any friggin' structure on this planet lives under the influence of Gravity. Simply put, that means things have to be stacked up vertically, with symmetries side to side, and levels front to back. That's basic Anatomical Design. Well understood. That's basic Physics. Also, well understood.

So there's Gravity. You're in it; but, are you with it? If you take a look around you'll see the answer for yourself ... not so much. A whole lot of folks live in default of their natural potential for upright bodily balance. Why? We grow bigger and stronger as we mature, structure — how things fit and work in relation to one another — that's learned. We're shaped by our experience. Bad habits, unresolved accidents and traumas, insufficient learning, modelling after significant others who may not manifest adequate balance themselves. All that ... we arrive in adulthood with random imbalances and their compensations welded into the fabric of our bodies. Ouch!

Good news! The human body is plastic. Just like it took shape, it can be reshaped. That's were Dr. Ida P. Rolf Method Structural Integration comes in.

But, we're way past that folksy hand jive. Read on.

But first ... there's another important thing that relates directly to the case in hand. The soft connective Fascial tissue system. Fascia is the organ of structure. It keeps everything in its place. It maintains relationships. Fascia is a protien-rich, micro-fibrous tissue which is ubiquitous and continuous throughout the body. It goes from the outermost layer of the skin all the way fused to the bones. It wraps and interpenetrates everything ... muscles and organs. Your brain. It is the medium of transfer for nutrients and carries circulation and nervous function. It's everywhere, man! All the way down to the cell walls. Maybe even into the cells themselves.

The thing is to visualize this three dimensional Fascial matrix of support and communication. Think of the pulp and segments of Citrus. It's like that. It's what give your body its shape.

Ain't it something? Who knew? Until very recently the Fasciae were considered not much more that stuffing, filler. Now there's the field of Fascial Studies, and lots of research into it's properties and new understanding about its therapeutic significance.

So now for the big reveal. That photo at the head of this article is a new twist on the classic approach which uses guided movement and touch. Usually in a series of sessions, all pointed to transforming the arrangement of the body into that simple balance which Gravity requires.

Since the Fasciae are continuous and plastic, shouldn't it be possible to pull on one end and get a line of connection to respond all the way at the other end? You betcha! Head bone connected to the toe bone kind of thing.

The new, as yet unnamed approach is just as pictured above. The idea is that we pull the hair in a prescribed and very precise manner, and the body responds owing to the fascial lines of connections. Sort of like the guy during the Nixon era, Chuck Colson. He famously said, "If you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will surely follow".

Early iterations of this technique looked like this:

Effective, but cumbersome. And, not so attractive. You had to leave those things on your head for the duration of the multi-week processing.

If you refer back to the image at the top you'll see the whole thing is revamped. There's still the hair rollers, albeit much smaller. The kicker is the gizmo. Who doesn't like a gizmo? In fact the gizmo is the selling point. Gotta have an appliance, don't we?

That gizmo thingy is state of the art electronics driven by a proprietary algorithm that calculates and sets tensions hair stand, by hair strand. This thing is so precise, just for fun sometimes we crank it to the limit and marvel at how the toe curl. Toe by toe. This thing is granular plus, plus. Nose out of joint? You'll have that appendage front and center pronto. Men! A little short in the nether department? Give that little fellow some slack, be the stud you wanna be!

Rolf Talks Golf

Rolf Talks Golf

I channeled Ida Rolf. What?...Who?...Whether or not you’re into such stuff or whether you give a hoot about the game of golf, please read on. Dr. Rolf says makes some sense. Even for the non-golfer.

Dr. Ida P. Rolf founded Structural Integration. She had solid scientific credentials in Bio-Chemistry. She researched the causes and cures of chronic disease. Out of her findings she developed and then taught a unique approach to human health and well being. Her teaching now lives on in several accredited schools.

The main goal of Structural Integration is to restore and evolve the body to its natural balance along the lines of Gravity. It is possible to do this because the human body is plastic; it can change. And, just like any other structure on this earth, the human body is subject to the force of Gravity. So it makes sense that when the body is more symmetrical and stacked up vertically it should work better. Right?

As a long-time student of the work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf I think I may have imbibed at least a little of her essence. That’s where the channeling stuff comes in. Who knew? In the spot where I work her picture looms just over my shoulder. Listen to what she whispered into my ear. (Why golf? One of my friends who I’m inviting to come in for Structural Integration is a golfer. So relating the work to his interest was on my mind. Even if you’re not a golfer, see if what she says doesn’t also apply to you in some way.)

Ida was famously blunt in pointing out that most people live out of balance with respect to the demands of Gravity. In her words, “they are at war with Gravity.” (If you look at yourself and others you’ll see whether what she is saying is true.)

Ok, Dr. Rolf, what’s on your mind?

“I just don’t get it about those golfers. All that fuss about pushing a little ball around on the grass. To each his own. They spend so much time and so much money on what not and whatever. Lessons. Books. Equipment. Play, play, play. Practice, practice, practice. Well, I will concede all that gets some improvement by and by. Some, anyway. By … and … by.

The one thing that those … duffers … haven’t seemed to have stumbled upon is taking a good long look at the complete picture. The body itself and how it’s put together is a big part of what goes into the game. The human body in structural terms is supposed to work with the force of Gravity. That calls for architectural balance — symmetry and verticality. But, if you bother to look, you’ll see that the average person lives with the centers of Gravity of the major segments of the body slipped out from the central axis. As for symmetry…you may have an arm and a leg on each side, but how different they are! Goodness, gracious! A lot of energy, time, and expense is invested in lessons and equipment trying to compensate for some of those obvious but unrecognized physical imbalances.

Why not do something to get the body itself into proper alignment in the first place! I didn’t make this stuff up, folks. I didn’t create a problem just so I would have something to fix. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. See for yourself what I’m talking about.

Your body is in balance or it isn’t. Usually a little of both. People at the top of their game in athletics and the arts already know how important cultivating physical balance is. How about the average Joe … And Joanne? If you were a putter, would anybody buy one? Would you? Are you hoping for yet another design gimmick so you can go get another big bucks driver?

So if I’ve offended your tender ego by suggesting that you take a firm grasp of the obvious, get over it. Suck it up and do something about it. You don’t have to go see David. He’s a nice boy, but he’s big bucks. Just think about what I’m telling you. You’ll know what to do. Your aunty Ida loves you. Now straighten up!”

Whew! Thank you Dr. Rolf, ma’am. You said what I was afraid to say myself. Thanks for the compliment too. I think.
